The gun that won the west - it could have been leaning there for over 100 years. I saw the story, too, and heard it on National Public Radio. It is suggestive of stories. Who put it there and never came by? When? Why? Did he get shot before he could pick it up, or did he fall off a cliff? Was he being chased? Or was it a she? All kinds of cool ideas. I read a book about that kind of rifle once, as part of my research. They use the same ammunition as a Colt 45, so guys often carried both. Maybe including our guys?
