PostSubject: ASJ Stats   Mon Jan 12, 2015 10:02 am

I've created this thread for stats and facts about the series. The below were created by Stepha3nie

Some of you were interested in my nerdy activities. I have now created an excel file from the scribbles on paper about the boys' "success" with the ladies and about their earnings. I'll try to post a copy here, I just hope there won't be formatting/code issues.

The Boys and "Success" with Women Earning Money

D=Dinner with Yes: 19 times
K=Kiss No: 12 times
Ks=Kisses NK: 2 times
L=falls in Love with (reciprocated)
S=Having Sex is indicated Minimum Amount: 21,292.00 $
T=Traveling alone with (plus possible interest in each other)

Episode Heyes Kid Yes/No/NK Amount
Pilot D Miss Porter Yes unclear: bank earnings, maybe reward for saving the money
The McCreedy Bust Ks saloon girls Yes $500 (what Mac gives the boys after his Hoyle trick)
The Girl in Boxcar No 3 K Annabelle Yes unclear, whatever payment they were given for a successful job
Wrong Train to Brimstone Yes $500
Exit from Wickenburg Yes $100 (plus poker winnings)
The Great Shell Game D Grace, maybe S* D+T Grace No
Return to Devil's Hole Yes $1000
A Fistful of Diamonds Rebuffed by Betsy No
Stagecoach Seven No
The Man who Murdered Himself L Julia, Ks, S** Yes $200
The Root of it All Ks Leslie K Margaret Yes $1500
The Fifth Victim S Helen (paid for)*** Yes $900 (for cougars), probably no poker winnings
Journey from San Juan D Blanche, maybe K L Michelle, Ks, D Yes $5000
Never Trust an Honest Man Yes $2200
The Legacy of Charlie O'Rourke K Alice K Alice Yes $2500
The Day They Hanged Kid Curry No
How to Rob a Bank in One Hard Lesson No
Jailbreak at Junction City No
Smiler with a Gun Yes $42 (poker chips)
The Posse That Wouldn't Quit NK probably they kept nothing for themselves
Something to Get Hung About Yes $2500, maybe poker winnings
Six Strangers at Apache Springs Ks Sister Grace Yes $1000 (gold dust), maybe poker winnings
Night of the Red Dog No
The Reformation of Harry Briscoe Yes $400 (for cattle)
Dreadful Sorry, Clementine KS Clem Ks Clem No
Shootout at Diablo Station No
The Bounty Hunter No
Everything Else You Can Steal No
Miracle at Santa Marta T with Meg, flirts, D Yes about $600 (horse race), $500 or 1000 (bodyguarding), maybe $500 (poker)
21 Days to Tenstrike Yes $800 (plus maybe more for daily work)
The McCreedy Bust: Going, Going, Gone Yes $800
The Man who Broke the Bank at Red Gap NK poker winnings, maybe advance on $1000
The Men that Corrupted Hadleyburg No
Dinner: 3 Dinner: 3
Kiss: 1 or 2, Kisses: 4 Kiss: 3, Kisses: 3
Love: 1 Love: 1
Sex: 1 or 2 Sex: 1 (bought)
Travel: 1 Travel: 1
Rebuffed: 1
* when Heyes escorts Grace to her room, he wears his jacket (still formally attired); when he later gives an update to Soapy, he has his jacket slung over his shoulder and looks less formal; this could be interpreted that he was invited in by Grace and "things" happened
** when Heyes and Julia kiss and he lays her back/down, the way the camera pans away from them and to the stream is as clear an indicator as they could give…
*** does it count as "success", when you have to pay? Still, Helen seemed willing, but then again…

If I award points for the codes (1 for Dinner, 2 for Traveling, 3 for Kiss, 4 for Kisses, 5 for Love, 6 for Sex, -1 for Rebuff), Heyes scores at least 35, maybe up to 44 and Kid scores 36; I could detract 2 points from Kid for paying for sex and add 2 points for Annabelle and Grace each for having a crush on him, but then I have to add at least 1 point to Heyes for the clear interest Mrs. Fielding shows in him; that would leave us with Heyes scoring 36-45 and Kid scoring 38

Table formatting looks ok for me, please let me know if you see it all jumbled up.

I scribbled notes on paper while watching re-runs on TV, occasionally I forgot and took the notes a day later from memory. All mistakes are down to this. Please let me know in case anything needs correcting.

I've also begun a kind of data base (I say "kind of" because I don't own the right kind of software for one, so have to use excel, please don't laugh) with information about ASJ (only PD episodes so far).
So far I've combed through the ASJ-bible and IMDb to get as many actor and character names as possible (sometimes it's just "townsman" or "stagecoach driver"). I've also started to go through the ASJ-bible to collect town names, safe versions and saloon names. I guess you can tell that occasionally I have too much time on my hands.

If any of you have suggestions about what other kind of data might be suitable for collection - I'm open for suggestions. No promises, though.

If you need information about character or actor names for the PD episodes, let me know. I'll see if I can help.
For example, I could tell you that there are 3 Charlies in these episodes (Charlie Wells, bank manager in ep. 8, Charlie Utley, way stationmaster in ep. 9 and Charlie O'Rourke, outlaw in ep. 15) and there was one Charley (no last name mentioned, in ep. 24).
With a proper data base, I could easily extract information like number of unique names beginning with "C", unfortunately I haven't figured out yet how to do it in Excel (I really don't know enough about text functions or VBA programming). So far I work with filters and have to do the counting myself.
If there are Excel buffs out there, I'd be grateful for any tips/recommendations.

I know a super-whizz with Excel who can help. Just wrote me an email saying what you want to do and attach the excel and I can get it done for you.

Dear Stepha3nie,

This is really great stuff, much easier to read in the table formatting. I hope your nerdiness will compel you to do more, as I am just nerdy enough to really find this interesting. Thanks!

Dear Stepha3nie,

This is really great stuff, much easier to read in the table formatting. I hope your nerdiness will compel you to do more, as I am just nerdy enough to really find this interesting. How about some stats on the coin flip. For instance, how many times did the coin get flipped? What was the reason they were flipping the coin? Whose idea was it to flip the coin? Did they really always use Heyes coin? Did Heyes really always win? Did the Kid ever question the results? Just a few very nerd-like thoughts. Thanks!

Thanks JB!
Coin flips are a good idea. I think I will start to enter some information that I remember or can find in the ASJ-bible, and then it might take a while to go through the episodes again. But I think I can cope with the hardship. Very Happy
Personally I'm a bit suspicious of the results, as we never see the coin and Kid doesn't seem to check for himself. Definitely worth some investigation.

I also thought about checking into Kid's quickdraws (circumstance, shooting, what shot).

And I guess, at some point I will have to include the RD episodes...
