After my second visit to the Deuel grave site and the family home, Paul and I headed outwards Buffalo New York. Skies were clearing while we drove and it even looked like the sun might re-appear for a few days.
We stopped in Gettsville and went to Paul's old neighbourhood where he grew up. Unlike the Deuel house, Paul's childhood home was long gone. What used to be acres of farmland and woods is now all residential. Paul was able to speak with a woman living there who was able to point out where the property line etc., used to be and he got a good idea where his house used to be.
We were also able to find some of the old homes still around and he was busy naming off all the people who used to live where. Some where even still there and we were able to drop by for a visit.
He left a message for one of his good buddies and we were able to meet up with him at the local bar for lunch. It was then agreed that he would get in touch with some of the old hands and we would have a get together before we left town and that actually worked out quite nicely.
Carried on to Buffalo after than, then on to Grand Island where Paul's sister-in-law is living and we stayed with her for a few days. Grand Island is located right in the middle of the Niagara River and is accessed by two bridges, both requiring tolls of course. Never seen so many toll highways in my life!
Anyway, had a great visit with Paul's other brother, John and his wife and actually found the time, and a break in the weather to hop across the boarder to Ontario and visit Niagara Falls.

Coming across the Erie Canal for about the third time.

The Erie Canal, in the rain, again.

Yeah! Home turf--even if it is the other side of the country, just about.

The Niagara River. Very winding here today, but at least not raining.

And here it is! Never been before

Maid of the Mist. We had hoped to do this ride today, and go for a walk behind the falls, but we didn't have time. An excuse to come again.

A horse named Curry. I kid you not

Our view from the carriage. So many people stopped to look at us and take our picture! Paul says they were looking at the horse but I beg to differ.

All the hotels etc., around the falls. Do you think it's expensive to stay here?

Going across the Rainbow Bridge and back into the US.

Nice to hear you're having a good time.
The pictures of the falls are wow. It must be breathtaking to be so close to the might of the falls.
A horse called Curry? Close to the Niagara river? Didn't Niekx report finding "Devil's Hole", Lobo and Kyle close by? Am I the only one spotting a theme here?

I didn't spot Lobo, but I did see the town, 'Kyle' come up on the map.  There is a Devil's Hole around here somewhere but can't place it now.  I know on our last road trip we saw a billboard advertising "Kid Curry's Casino" but it went by too fast for me to get a picture!

The names do keep popping up on us don't they?
