Keays, Thanks for sharing these with us, I think this is a great addition to the site. I think trying to draw or paint Peters face would be very difficult since his face is so asymmetrical and actually very unusual. I think you have made some very good attempts here. And the horses are amazing. Thanks.

Thanks JB.  You're right; Peter is very difficult to draw.  Ben was always much easier.  Oddly enough I think the drawings I did of Peter when I was 14 are better than what I can do now.  Of course memory might be tricking me.

Keays, do you have some drawings of Ben to share? I would love to see them if you do..... bounce

Don't apologies Keays, your drawings are great - of both of them! I would love to see more here.
I am also impressed with how you draw/painted the horses. They send a real good vibe of the computer screen. In my youth, about the time I watched ASJ, there was a painter in The Netherlands who captured every day moments of life in the 70ties. He was a magnificent artist and a very kind and humorous person. His name was Rien Poortvliet and your horses got me thinking of him - a fond memory. I think I am going downstairs and take one of his books out of my bookcase for bedtime reading....

Your drawings of the boys are really good, and I look forward to seeing more. Too bad we're not still in the day of the printed fanzine. You could have done the illustrations for your own stories.

The drawings of the horses, I think, are even better. The horses seem to leap off the screen. Have you ever done commissions? I bet some horse owners would pay you to do portraits, especially if you showed those that you posted here.

Thanks for the link Niekx.  I do know this artist and I'm very honoured that you think my drawings are on any kind of level with his.  My ex-mother-in-law is from Holland and she always had his calendars up on her wall.  He is amazing.  I'll post a couple of my dog portraits too.  They're certainly not as good as his, but they're getting here.

RosieAnnie; yes, most of the portraits of animals have been commissions.  Kind of hard to make much of a living at it though; People certainly like them, but not many want to pay for them.

Your artwork is really good Keays, especially the horses. I love the one laying in the grass. Makes me wish I could go out and lay beside it :)

Thank you HH.  That is an Appaloosa that belongs to my friend.  His name is Yankee Showboat.  Beau for short.  The horse's name, that is--not my friend's.

Oh, Keays.  You are very talented.  You catch the sheen on the coats beautifully.

Keays, you have a beautiful talent for capturing the souls of animals.  Very special and very perceptive.

I specifically love the gloss on the blood/basset hounds coat.  Very, very clever.

Keays, these are stunning!  You're incredibly talented.  I love the portrait of the child and dog.

Your 'Pete' is adorable.  With your wonderful artwork, you obviously have a natural affinity with animals.

And what a fabulous view behind you.

Thank you Nancy. Yes, Vancouver BC can be very beautiful in the Spring and Summer and early Fall. You just have to be willing to put up with the rain!

Keays, I am very impressed with these and I can't wait to see what you've learned applied to Peter's face. Your attempts at Peter have been good in the past, but he is so difficult to capture. I am really looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

The workshop has obviously given you a creative re-charge, and work shopping is always a brave thing to do I think.

I am looking forward with interest to your new postings.

Thanks for sharing.

Keays, the call sheets are fascinating.  I've seen posts of some of the scripts before (Ben's I think from the markings, but who knows), but these call sheets present a fascinating behind the scenes look (who has to be where when, etc.).  Thanks for posting.  Also Karma looks like a great dog.
