Well, thanks to Hannaheyes for posting some fun links, so while she's gone to the pound to round up some more Kitties, I'll post a challenge for you. Do you think like me, Muahaha? Can you spot the link in one picture and win two (yes two) coconuts? coconut  coconut

Actually I think they are some kind of ceramic containers with matches for smoking. They show up a lot in the series.
Don't know if they are historically accurate or what they would be called. Anybody know?

Hi Helen, that's not the link so no coconuts  coconut coconut  The match containers, whilst true to period, are not accurate. Striking matches were invented at this time and were in use in 1880s Europe, but were not generally in use in the USA outside large cities and were virtually unknown in the Western USA until the turn of the century. Tinderboxes were used, and any hand source of fire such as a stove, fire or lamp was used to light a taper. I hope that helps answer your question.

A small flame visible, or at least smoke? It's hard to tell in these little pictures. There are certainly lamps in both.

Ooh, very well spotted. I almost feel bad telling you it's not the link... How about this one? Any help? Look closely. It is there.

Containers with liquid in them? (And in one case, also an outlaw.)

I was going to say mirror but I couldn't spot the one in the first photo.  Sad

Warm or hot liquids (warm beers; hot water for bathing/shaving)?

Oh, you're getting close, Remuda. It's not the temperature of the liquids so no coconuts.  coconut  Look 'around' the liquids.

"Around" the liquids?  No clue.  Can only guess the liquid/water is not clear or clean (amber-colored or dirty water).

confetti Yay Yay Yay confetti

You got it, EvaHanley.  It's suds, foam, froth - however you want to term it.  It's on the beer, the baths and the shaving foam.  Enjoy your coconut.  coconut  There's another chance to win tomorrow.
